Target glicemici e impiego della tecnologia in programmazione di gravidanza nelle donne con diabete di tipo 1

Glycemic targets and use of technology in pregnancy planning in women with type 1 diabetes

Pre-existing glucose metabolism alterations affect fetal organogenesis and are associated with a high incidence of adverse maternal and fetal outcomes. Although optimal glycemic control before conception and during organogenesis is known to significantly reduce these risks, the rate of planned pregnancies in women with type 1 diabetes remains unsatisfactory. In recent years, new technologies for glucose monitoring and insulin administration have revolutionized the management of diabetes during pregnancy. However, adopting these technologies requires pre-gestational counseling and ongoing support from the healthcare team both before and during pregnancy.
